Our mission

Talk About It!, the Animal No-Kill program of the San Antonio Area Foundation, educates the community on the importance of Care. Adopt. Neuter.

What is Bark in the Park - Perrito Grito?

Why do we Bark in the Park?

In 2006, the City of San Antonio adopted a strategic plan committed to making San Antonio a no-kill city for cats and dogs.  “No-kill” means that healthy or treatable cats and dogs are not euthanized simply beacuse there is no space for them.  Since 2007, the San Antonio Area Foundation, through its Animal No-Kill Fund and Talk About It! program, has helped over 200,000 pets get adopted and over 360,000 pets get spayed and neutered through grant funding and community events.  By working with our partners, Talk About It! is committed to helping San Antonio become the largest no-kill city in the nation by educating the community that together, we C.A.N. - Care. Adopt. Neuter.

Bark in the Park - Perrito Grito brings people, pets, animal welfare organizations, and pet-friendly companies together to make San Antonio a better place for people and pets. This event is made possible by the Animal No-Kill program of the San Antonio Area Foundation, Talk About It! SA.  In 2015, this one of a kind pet fiesta offered members of our community free spay/neuter, free microchipping, low-cost vaccinations, and pet adoptions.  More than 600 pets received low-cost or free services!  This family friendly event also featured pet contests, entertainment, food trucks, kids activities, and a variety of vendors and exhibitors.
